Co-Curricular Activities

Students are encouraged to engage enthusiastically in various co-curricular activities, as these are essential for the development of a well-rounded personality. Participation in these activities fosters a competitive spirit and prepares students for leadership roles. The school organizes inter-house sports and competitions, dividing students into four houses. A rolling shield is awarded at the end of the academic year to the best-performing house, encouraging a healthy competitive environment.

Participation in all co-curricular activities is expected, except for those students who are exempted on medical grounds. These activities provide valuable opportunities for students to develop social skills, creativity, and a sense of responsibility.

  • Arts and Sports: Co-curricular activities such as Music, Dance, Speech, Drama, Art, and Pottery are integral parts of the curriculum. These activities nurture creativity and artistic talents.
  • Physical Education: DPS places a strong emphasis on sports and physical education, ensuring the physical well-being of students.
  • Tournament of Minds: This initiative includes inter-house competitions that cover a wide range of activities, including quizzes, recitations, elocutions, declamations, storytelling, word games, and debates. These competitions foster a spirit of healthy competition and intellectual growth.

Educational Philosophy

DPS follows the philosophy that "The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled," as quoted by Plutarch. This reflects the school's commitment to igniting a passion for learning in students rather than merely imparting information. The focus is on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning.
